2023 Agave Symposium at UC Davis
On December 13th, 2023, the California Agave Council and UC Davis co-hosted the 2nd California Agave Symposium at the Conference Center. Attendance skyrocketed from 40 to nearly 200, including agave industry professionals and academics like CDFA Secretary of Agriculture Karen Ross. The event featured discussions on business strategies, research updates from UC Davis experts, networking sessions, and a blind taste test of California Agave Spirits led by guest speaker Clayton Szezech.

The California Agave Council Harvest Supper unfolded as a picturesque affair atop a serene hill nestled in Woodland, California, enveloped by the tranquil ambiance of agave fields. Esteemed guests were treated to a gastronomic journey orchestrated by the culinary virtuoso, Juan Barajas of Savory Cafe, showcasing a meticulously crafted three-course meal. Against the backdrop of a live agave harvest, attendees indulged in an exquisite selection of locally sourced farm-to-fork delicacies, impeccably paired with the sublime essence of California Agave Spirits, thereby intertwining the pleasures of epicurean delight with the essence of regional terroir.
2022 Agave Symposium at UC Davis
On May 24, 2022 the Council co-hosted an Agave Symposiums with the Robert Mondavi Institute of Food and Wine Science (RMI) at UC Davis. The all-day event was attended by over 40 agave growers, distillers, agricultural advisors, and academics, including UC Davis Chancellor Gary May. This event led to seed funding by the Woolf family of an Agave Research Center at UC Davis to provide research support for this new industry.
